Memorial Day

So Tyler had Memorial Day off. We were talking all weekend about what we wanted to do for his day off, and we thought it was supposed to be cold so we weren't going to do much of anything. But this morning it was really nice so we decided to go to the beach. Since Tyler hasn't gone to the beach with Lizette yet this year we thought it would be fun. AND IT WAS TONS OF FUN. It was nice and warm out and what made it even better is that it wasn't crowded at all. Which was a big surprise, but I am not going to complain about it. We went to Faria beach, which is an awesome beach for kids. Tyler and Lizette had fun playing in the water, and of course commandeering my beach chair, which looks like Aunt Ashley's. I had fun talking to my cousins who were there as well. After being at the beach for a couple of hours we came home and made some yummy dinner. It was a great day. I wish everyday could be Memorial day...

Beach Day II

So we went to the beach again on Friday, for the second time this summer. Boy was it HOT. I was really busy on Friday and I wasn't sure if I was going to have time to go, but I went anyways. I am so happy that we did. It was so nice. It was really the perfect beach day. Ashley and Chloe were there, and so was her friend Jessica and her cute twin boys. Lizette loved playing in the sand, but most importantly she LOVES the ocean. I took her down to the ocean edge expecting her to freak out because the water was so cold and there were some rocks, but much to my dismay she LOVED the ocean. She would get all excited. I would bring her back to where we were sitting and try to distract her, but 5-10 minutes later she would be running to the ocean shore. This is so different than last year, when we took her to the beach when she was six months. Tyler put her toes in the ocean water and she freaked out. Even though we were both REALLY sandy when we left the beach, I am happy that we went and that Lizette likes the beach so much. It is free and the perfect summer destination.

I LOVE baby powder. I poured so much on her to get the sand off her before we left the beach, it is definitely a beach must have.

It also wouldn't be a beach outing if Lizette didn't commandeer Aunt Ashley's beach chair. SORRY ASHLEY...

Noah's Ark

So on Thursday, my friend Valerie called and asked if Lizette wanted to go to the Noah's Ark exhibit at the Skirball Museum. Someone canceled so she had two extra tickets, but we had to get ready to leave within an hour. So I hurried as fast as I could, and a miracle happened, we got out of the house just in time. We drove to the Skirball Museum, had some lunch, and we went to the Noah's Ark exhibit. It was really neat. They make animals out of recycled materials. Lizette and Milana touched everything and ran everywhere. In the last room there is a V-slant that you can go up, and play along the top of the room. Lizette and I went up there, and boy, was that a work out climbing through small holes trying to catch up with a toddler, and carrying a diaper bag. Lizette had fun walking through everything. But one of her favorite things to do there was to play with the broom, maybe she needs to start sweeping around the house since she loves it so much. I am really happy that we went. We are going to go again in a couple of weeks. I can't wait. Lizette wanted to stay longer, but it was way past nap time. So might as well go again, especially when it is FREE on Thursdays. Again, I have to say, I am so excited for this summer. Lizette is bigger and we can go out and enjoy more things than last summer.

New Tricks

For Mother's Day Lizette has learned a new trick today. She learned how to open and shut our bedroom door. BOY AM I IN TROUBLE..
Happy Mother's Day to me....

Tagged

So Lizette got tagged by Ryan. So here are 6 facts about Lizette.

1. She loves playing with her hair and everyone else's hair. She can't get enough of it. I can tell when she is tired, because she will lay down and play with her hair. And if Tyler or I are laying down on the floor. She will come up behind us and play with our hair and laugh. She is also at a phase where she won't give us kisses (it is few and far between, she use to give us 100 kisses a day) but she will come up and kiss our hair. She is so silly.

2. This is no surprise, but Lizette loves the water. She can't get enough of it. She loves anything to do with the water. But she especially loves the shower. She loves it when we turn on the shower head. She loves to stand under it. Just this morning she had to take a morning shower with me because she had a messy breakfast. She would push me out of the way of the shower head, because she wanted to stand under it. What a crazy baby.

3. She loves books. Whenever we are sitting on the ground, Lizette comes up to us with a book and she has to sit in our lap. Sometimes, if it is a long book she gets bored and starts to turn the pages herself and we go through the same book 15 times and she just turns all the pages. When daddy reads to her he does extra crazy voices, and she thinks it is so funny.

4. She loves to be in nothing but her diaper. She gets mad when we try to put clothes on her, especially when she comes out of the bath. She must get that from her Daddy.

5. She loves trying to do stuff herself. One example is, we mostly give her finger foods, but when I give her things that require utensils, i.e. yogurt. She wants to feed it herself. So for the last couple of bites we will let her feed herself with the spoon. We do assist a little. So all of it doesn't end up on the floor. It is so fun to see her try new things. But if she can't do it herself, she throws a fit, and if we try to help her sometimes, she throws a bigger fit. Then we just walk away until she wants help.

6. She loves being outside. She loves anything to do with being outside. She loves going for walks, playing in our front yard, and swimming. She would rather be outside playing in the dirt than inside playing with her toys, for the most part. She loves to explore and see new things. She is our sweet baby girl.

I tag anyone who wants to do this.

You're so Vain

So Tyler is convinced that he has some crazy nose hairs. I agree that sometimes they are a little long, but I don't think they are CRAZY. Tyler talks about it all the time. He doesn't want to be that man with the CRAZY nose hair, but no one will tell him in the fear of being mean. I have bought Tyler a nose trimmer, but he states that it doesn't work well. For the past couple of years Tyler has been plucking his nose hair. Every time he plucks he says, he should buy wax and wax the "long" hairs that come out of his nose. So yesterday, he went to the store at 10 at night, for some groceries that we needed for Sunday, and he came back with wax. SO at 11:50 at night he waxed his long nose hairs. I , of course, had to take a picture because I think it is too funny. Tyler doesn't think it hurts as bad as plucking. He is going to do in again next time. He is crazy, I know.

Happy Birthday Kelly!

So Tyler's sister Kelly had a Birthday on Friday. She was turning 30 and her husband was away. So Tyler and I decided to take Kelly out for her big birthday. Tyler, Kelly, and I first met with Holly for dinner at JJ Brewsky's Restaurant. Then Tyler, Kelly, and I went to Lazer's Star to go lazer tagging. It has been at least 10 years since the last time. I step foot into a lazer tag place. We laughed so hard when we walked in and saw tons of kids under the age of 10. Luckily, I found some coupons in the mail, so we got some free tokens for the games, and a free lazer tag game. We played a couple of games before we played our lazer tag game. One of the games was Dance, Dance Revolution. Then we played our game. We played with 3 other people, over the age of 16, luckily. It was actually quite fun. After the lazer tag we used up the rest of the tokens. We played all those stupid games where you get the tickets, and we were laughing so hard. At the end we cashed in our tickets to get our kids a little present. Lizette got a slap bracelet that she loves playing with. Overall, I think we had a great time. Maybe we have to get all the Barton siblings with their spouses together and go and play some lazer tag.....

Baby Charlie and Toddler Luke

Lizette and I went to visit Lizette's newest friend, Baby Charlie this past week. We picked up his older brother, Luke and drove the 2 1/2 hours to their house. Lizette and Luke slept for about half of the trip the other half they were playing with each other. They would hold hands, and just stare at each other then laugh. It was so funny. They were so cute together. For the most part they were really good for the long trip.

We got to meet little baby Charlie. He is so stinkin' cute. Lizette was so fascinated by Baby Charlie. She would just go and look at him. And in the morning, since we were up before everyone else. Lizette would hear baby Charlie cry and run to Erik and Cristin's door and point at it. It was too cute. I was so mad at myself. I forgot my camera. That just means that I just have to go up another time. I am really happy that we were able to go and visit. Thank you Erik and Cristin for letting us stay with you we had a really great time.
(The top picture was taken with Erik's cellphone when we were at the grocery store. What cute kids!)

Swim Lessons

So I know it has been forever since I updated my blog. Probably like everybody else, my life has been crazy. So last Saturday was Lizette's last swim class. She really loved her swim class. She is just like her daddy, and she loves the water. She gets mad when she hears the shower going and she is not the one taking a shower. Here is a video clip of her going under the water. All the other kids her age hated it. She didn't care at all. She is definitely a water baby.
